JUBA (May 16, 2012) – South Sudan on Wednesday celebrated Army Day commemorating the 29th anniversary of the founding of the Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/SPLA) to spearhead the liberation of all the marginalized people of Sudan.

JUBA (May 14, 2012) – President Salva Kiir held talks with Chinese presidential envoy Zhong Jianhua on Monday, which focused the current tensions along the South Sudan-Sudan border but also covered bilateral relations with Beijing.

Government, IOM to begin major airlift of South Sudanese from Kosti

JUBA (May 14, 2012) – The government and the International Organization for Immigration (IOM) on Monday began a major operation to airlift some 15,000 South Sudanese currently stranded in Kosti, White Nile State, about 200 km south of the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

Chief Negotiator concludes Europe, US visit

JUBA (May 14, 2012) – SPLM Secretary General and South Sudan’s Chief Negotiator in post-independence talks with Sudan Cde Pagan Amum returned to Juba on Monday after a successful visit to Europe and the United States that lasted several days.

JUBA (May 12, 2012) – The Council of Ministers has adopted a new political map of South Sudan for the first since the country became independent nearly a year ago.
