UNMIS SRSG offers condolences on deaths of air crash victims

[Khartoum, 2 May 2008] The Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Sudan, Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, has conveyed his condolences to the Government of South Sudan (GoSS) on hearing of today's tragic plane crash, which took the lives of GoSS SPLA Affairs Minister Dominic Dim Deng and other military officials.

SPLM loses senior officials in fatal air crash

Sudan continued on May 5 to mourn the tragic deaths in an air crash of several top SPLM and SPLA officials, a day after the bodies of six of the victims were flown to Juba, capital of South Sudan, on board two U.N. helicopters.

SPLM Chairman Salva Kiir joined hundreds of officials, relatives and friends at Juba airport in receiving the remains of SPLA Affairs Minister Dominic Dim Deng, Presidential Advisor Justin Yac, and of four other victims.
